August is almost over

I cannot believe we are heading to the end of August. Im telling you- August is one of those never ending months. The start of school is so hard. It is so hard to establish a routine and get the kids on the same page- but in the end it pays off.

I am enjoying being in my masters program. I am deff. feeling the stress and pressure but its coming along. I just trying to get in the routine. I just feel like there is so much I need to get through during the day but there is not enough time.

I was thinking the other day about how much school has changed since I was a small child. I can't really remember it all that well but I would love to see what it looked like to teach first grade back then compared to now. Would we laugh at them for not doing enough or would they laugh at us for trying to do too much. Where is the happy medium? How will it look when I have a child in school. Will it be even more? Are we just pushing our kids to think that more it better?

Well off to teach and ponder these thoughts.

Oh see how my garden will grow...

This is the saying I keep in mind during this trying time during the start of school. First grade at the start of school is NOT easy. They are young and its hard to remember that after the ones you just sent off had grown up so much. My garden will grow- just keep saying that.

I am very impressed, however, with the improvement that has been made since last week. It is only my second year teaching and I still have a lot to learn. I do feel alot better tis go around then I did last year. Last year I felt so overwhlemed and now I feel very much in the know and I am excited about it.

This group is much different from last year. It is so interesting to see how different each child is and I am loving every minute of getting to know them. They are so funny and so full of enegery.

So as I continue on this journey of establishing a routine and setting rules I just keep reminding myself of how my garden will grow.

The First Blog!

Here it goes...My very first blog ever. I will be posting my thoughts and reflections as I make the 7 week journey through my Technology Class. I am very excited about this class. I am lucky to be the age where computers, ipods, and facebook have been a part of everyday life. I graduated a year ago with my Bachelors Degree and I was very lucky to have an AMAZING teachnology teacher. He taught us so much and so well that I am coming into this class with alot of confidence and know how. Well here it goes. :)
